Singer, songwriter. 20th April 1951, in New York. The youngest of four children, Vandross was raised by his mother after his father’s death. He became interested in R & B music in high school, and in 1972, his “Everybody Rejoice” song was chosen for the Broadway musical The Wiz. Shortly thereafter, he began recording commercial jingles and worked as an arranger and singer of popular artists as David Bowie, Bette Midler and Barbara Streisand.
